To get started
Following stages 1-3 make a loop and tighten around your crochet hook
4. Chain 6
5. Join your chain by slipping your crochet hook through the last chain (it will look like you have two loops on your hook) wrap your yarn around your hook and pull back through the two loops so that you have one remaining and you should now be at stage 6 in the photo above.
Round 1
7.. Chain 5 (this will act as your last treble and you will use this to complete your round)
8. Continue to make 11 more trebles into your circle giving you 12 in all.
9. slip stitch your last treble and your chain 5 together to complete your round.
Now you may choose to change the colour of your yarn at this point. If this is the case finish off by chain one snip the yarn and pull all the way through. Join the next colour of your choice and go to stage 10.
10. chain 5
Round 2
11. starting with the next space work two treble in between each treble from round 1 (you will have worked 23 trebles when you reach your chain 5). Make your last treble in the same space as your chain 5 and then join the two together with a slip stitch as you did for round 1.
Chain 1 snip your yarn and pull all the way through to finish using this colour yarn.
Round 3
12. Join your next colour yarn and chain 5

Continue to make three treble after each set of two treble from round 2 (you will have worked 35 trebles when you reach your chain 5). Make two treble in the same space as your chain 5 and then join your chain 5 and last treble together with a slip stitch as you did for round 1.
Chain 1 snip your yarn and pull all the way through to finish using this colour yarn.
Round 4
14. Join your last colour and chain 5. Now in the next space you are going to make your corner as you would for the basic granny square by working *3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble. In the next 2 spaces work 3 treble and repeat from * until you have completed your round.
15. You should now have the beginning of your circle within a square.
Rounds 5/6
16. Work a further two rounds so that you will have worked 6 rounds altogether and have a square resembling the same as photograph 16.
You have now completed your circle in a square block.
