Fringing

Fringing always looks so much harder than it is in reality.

Traditional baby blankets always look so beautiful with fringing all around the edge.

It can be time consuming 2-3 hours to cut them all and add to the finished blanket

But the impact with worth all the effort

1. I start by measuring out a 12" line with tailor chalk

2. Using 3 x 100g balls at the same time measure out 3 x 12" strands
(this gives you 9 strands for each fringe)

3. With the wrong side of your blanket facing you

4. select your the first space between a treble to add your fringe to

5. Fold over the first strip of fringing and loop through from the front to the back of your blanket

6. Tuck the strands of the fringe up and through the loop you pulled through your blanket

7. Pull tight to complete your first fringe

8. This is what you should see from the front of the blanket

9. For a forty round granny square blanket you will need to make  40 fringes per side (160 fringes in total)

10/11. once you have fringed the whole blanket you will then need trim each fringe to neaten up the edge

12. and you'll end up with a pile of bits for throwing away unless you can think of another use for them.
