Working abbreviations

Even after nearly 50 years of knitting there will still be the odd abbreviation on a pattern that will completely throw me and I won't have a clue what it means.  I would like to put together a comprehensive list of abbreviations that may be helpful to someone visiting my blog.  If you know of an unusual abbreviation that may be useful to add please leave me a comment below and I will add to the list.

Working abbreviation	Meaning
1 x 1 rib	1st row. *k1, p1, rep from * to last st, k1 2nd row. * p1,k1 rep from * to last st, p1 Repeat 1st and 2nd rows to form your rib
2 x 2 rib	1st row. *k2, p2, rep from * to last st, k2 2nd row. * p2,k2 rep from * to last st, p2 Repeat 1st and 2nd rows to form your rib
St-st	1st row. Knit                                                            2nd row. Purl
m1. Make one stitch	Pick up the loop between last and next stitch and work into the back of the loop knitways
m1p. Make one stitchpurlways	pick up the loop between last and next stitch and purl into the back of the loop
G-st. Garter stitch	Every row knit
k2tog	knit 2 stitches together by inserting right hand needle into fronts of next 2 stitches and work the stitches knitways
p2tog	purl 2 stitches together by inserting right hand needle into fronts of next 2 stitches purlways and work the stitches together
S2tog	Slip 2 together by inserting right hand needle into fronts of next 2 stitches as to k2tog, do not knit the stitches together but slip both stitches together onto the right hand needle.
